A great maple-infused cocktail to enjoy on the deck this summer. Follow these simple instructions for a great basic cocktail. For more intermediate cooks, try experimenting with flavour infusions when making the simple syrup to compliment your dinner menu and enhance the great maple flavour.
You will need:
- 8oz Rock glass
- Generous portion of crushed ice
- 2 tbsp mint simple syrup
- 2oz Collingwood whiskey
- Splash of chilled maple water
- Fresh mint to garnish
Substitute mint for other fresh herbs growing in your garden with the following instructions for a simple syrup.
Mint simple syrup:
- 6-8 mint leaves
- 250ml white sugar
- 500ml maple water
In a saucepan heat maple water, sugar and mint over medium heat until sugar dissolves, let it simmer for a couple minutes. Turn heat off and let simple syrup steep. The longer you leave the mint leaves in the more minty flavour! Combine ingredients and enjoy.
