We get it – not every Dad barbecues. But who doesn’t love food cooked on a grill? Summerhill’s got you covered this Father’s Day with a wide range of items including: succulent Applewood Smoked Pork Ribs, veggie kabobs ready to get lit, fresh seafood, and all the sides to make Dad’s Day a memorable one. Read on for our top picks of BBQ and weekend eats.
All Fired Up
There’s just something about barbecue that makes everything a bit better. It’s confirmation that summer has finally arrived. And then there’s the smell of food cooked over a fire. Drool. So get outside and fire up the grill – or pick up one of our made-from-scratch new summer menu items – and enjoy the weather while it’s here. Impress Dad with your cooking skills with enticing mains such as Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Swordfish Spiedini, Cedar-Plank Salmon (check out our blog on how to cook with cedar planks here), Miami Cut Beef Short Ribs in Korean Marinade (a staff favourite!) and even Paella. All you need is a detailed shopping list and some time in front of the grill.
PRO TIP: Cut the Miami Ribs with a sharp pair of kitchen scissors and avoid your guests having to saw away with plastic utensils, or eat em with your fingers and enjoy as they should be.
Chillin’ + Grillin’
Not ready to tackle such involved recipes? No prob. Pick up fresh jumbo shrimp, thick striploins, and herbed butter (find ready-made medallions at our fish counter!) to create Surf & Turf that rivals most steakhouses (and cost way less!). Want something a little less involved? SHM famous Beef Ribs, found perched on the deli counter, are already cooked and come with a signature smoky BBQ sauce. Just warm and serve. Add a side (one of the newest additions: BBQ Lima Beans dressed with shallots, mint, chili pepper, lime juice, oilve oil, salt & pepper), a cooler full of beer, and you’re set.
Where’s the Beef
Not a meat-lover? Shop for your favourite fish, seafood, poultry, tofu, and/or vegetables. Pour one of the store’s drool-inducing handmade marinades over top (choose from a wide range incl. Coconut Lime, French Herb, Portuguese Style, Chimichurri, Korean Style) and refrigerate for a few hours. Pop your items on the grill until done. Sure SHM did all the work, but you can take credit if you want to.
