The countdown is on. It’s almost time to ring in the new year! Having just a few people over for a low-key get together? Hosting a formal dinner party this year? Check out our top picks below.

Pop. Clink. Fizz.

The countdown is on. It’s almost time to ring in the new year! Having just a few people over for a low-key get together? Hosting a formal dinner party this year? Throwing a lush bash for a crowd? No matter what size the gathering, there are a few essentials you should have on hand:

Nibbles

Whatever the size of your gathering, you’re going to need great food. Elegant appetizers and canapés, such as Deviled Eggs, Crab Cakes, Stuffed Medjool Dates, Roast Beef Wedges, and Duck Confit Spring Rolls are sure to wow the crowd. Platters are always a good idea. Crudite & Cheese, Smoked Salmon, and Cheese & Antipasto allow guests to customize their plate and graze at their leisure. And you can never have enough snack. Nuts, pretzels, and olives are all fab party pleasers.

p.s. Take your snacks to the next level with our housemade Truffle Popcorn and Torres Caivar or Sparkling Wine chips.

Tipples

Whether your guests are ringing in the new year with champagne or sparkling water, stocking your bar cart with elevated options is key. For those who don’t care to imbibe this holiday, it doesn’t get any better than Seedlip, the world’s first non-alcoholic spirit. It delivers the same experience as a carefully curated cocktail, without any buzz or side effects. And you’ll want a good quality club soda and tonic water (we have a few including bartender-fave Fever Tree), a couple of fresh juices and natural sodas (to be enjoyed on their own and as mixers), along with fresh lemons, limes, oranges, and herbs (mint, rosemary) for garnishes and muddling.

p.s. Don’t forget the ice!

Tableware

Often the cleanup after a party is more work than setting it up in the first place. So make it easy on yourself this year and pick up everything you need in-store: plates, cups, cutlery, and gold disposable cups. Because who wants to spend the first day of the year doing the dishes?

p.s. Be sure to also grab drink stirrers, napkins, and coasters.

Decorations

It’s easy to get caught up in planning what you need food and drink wise for your fête, so be sure to add decorations to your list! Depending on the type of soiree you’re hosting, you’ll want a floral arrangement, garlands and balloons, or LED lights. Lucky for you, you can shop them all in our floral department. p.s. Save yourself a trip to the party store and pick up hats, tiaras, noisemakers, and confetti while picking up your groceries.

Party Favours

Give your guests a parting gift as they head for home. Simple, yet still thoughtful items we carry in-store include:
1. Package of our housemade cookies
2. Box of assorted teas
3. Tiny succulent
4. Soy candle
5. Cake or cookie batter (available in the fridge of our bakery department)

p.s. Buy a few items and mix-and-match them. i.e. Place a few shortbread cookies in a small bag or tin with a selection of tea bags.

Wishing you the very best for 2019. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
