Cleanse and refresh your palette with this simple, clean juice. We’ve added a hearty dose of parsley to the recipe (stems included) to offer something a little more unexpected.
There are two ways to go about this recipe:
You can combine our Summerhill Market cold-pressed celery juice and apple juice together (there’s nothing added to those beverages except for the fruit or vegetable — we’re just doing the work for you). Then, blend in 1 bunch of parsley.
The other option is to make it all from scratch:
1 generous apple
5 celery stalks
1 bunch of parsley (stems included)
Blend together in a juicer or blender and drink fresh and cold!
Apples: the antioxidants in apples help boost your immune system and help protect cells from free radical damage. They’re also a great ingredient in smoothies and juices if you like that bit of familiar sweetness. Incorporate green apples for a tang or red delicious, Gala or Fuji for something sweeter.
Celery: this past year we saw celery juice take social media by storm. Everyone jumped on the band wagon and started blending it and drinking it as a daily immune-booster and anti-inflammatory drink. It’s known to help combat headaches/migraines and the robust antioxidant profile made it the star of the veggie show during the pandemic. As consumers looked for natural healthy immune boosters, celery took centre stage. Some research also points towards antibacterial and anti-fungal capabilities. It does add a very specific flavour profile to juices and shakes so the apple helps cut this a bit.
Parsley: this is a new one for many of us that are just entering the make-your-own juice realm — adding a bunch of parsley to your juice?!?! While it’s more often seen as a garnish or as a subtle spice in certain dishes, the essential oil found in parsley contains a concentrated source of nutrients. It’s particularly rich in vitamins A, C, and K. Research suggests that the vitamins and beneficial plant compounds in parsley may improve bone health, protect against chronic diseases, and provide antioxidant benefits (it’s said to be antifungal as well). Again, it’s a powerful flavour, but that’s why, when combined with apple and celery, you get a total palette cleaner.
Combining apple-celery juice with fresh parsley also combats gas and bloating.
We can go on and on about why cold-pressed juices and fresh herbs are good for the body and mind. But, you get the general idea. This particular recipe is all about waking up your taste buds and refreshing your insides.
