All About Candra Mae

My family’s entire life revolves around food: 80% of conversations, trips and entertainment is based on FOOD. I’ve partnered with my husband’s family’s stores, Summerhill Market, to share my own, unique healthy twist on recipes.

If you’ve landed here, then you must love good food. Perfect! We will be fast friends.

As a wife to a 3rd generation grocer, I’m surrounded by great food, fresh produce and the latest products and pantry essentials.

I’ve partnered with my husband’s family’s stores — Summerhill Market —  to share my own, unique healthy twist on recipes.  And to bring you news on the latest, trendiest products, spices and wellness items.

My husband, Brad, grew up in the aisles of grocery stores and now my kids are doing the same, which really makes each store feel like a second home to me.  Over the years, I’ve witnessed the passion and commitment to detail that make Summerhill stand out from other stores.  I’ve also learned that hard work is the secret sauce to making great food for families.

My family’s entire life revolves around food: 80% of conversations, trips and entertainment is based on FOOD. In fact, my first ever trip with Brad was to New York City, I was thrilled to be venturing to NYC for an exciting weekend of shopping, nightlife and restaurants.  Brad had different plans, we spent the entire weekend visiting independent grocery stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn! We assessed grocery store layouts, produce displays, shelving and of course product after product. This was a grocer’s idea of a good time!

And that’s where it all began for us.  From that date forward, every trip we went on revolved around searching out trendy grocery stores, boutique shops, farmers and unique products. We’d take our knowledge back to Toronto and figure out how best to incorporate it into Summerhill Market locations.

As our family grew, to include three lovely girls, two cats and a dog, I devoted parenthood to family meals and healthy eating.  As a Culinary Nutritionist, my passion exploded into the online space where I created a community of parents and foodies who love sharing new ideas.

After years of focusing on creating healthy, balanced family meals, I found myself curating specific kitchen essentials.  And that’s where The Curated Kitchen Box entered the picture.  I was discovering so many new products in the food space…most of which were developed by local entrepreneurs.  And often, those products get buried in over-flowing grocery aisles.

How could I help draw attention to these amazing products and bring them all to families across the country?

With the Curated Kitchen Box, I compile unique kitchen and pantry essentials, spices and wellness items that are connected to each new season.  Members can subscribe to a year’s worth of boxes or buy one to try it out.  The box allows consumers the chance to try a variety of different products without having to pay full price – the box offers them at a substantial discount.  It’s also a fabulous gift for university/college students, new parents, newlyweds or any family member.

You can also find my healthy recipes, favourite products and cooking tips right here, once a month.

I’m thrilled you’re joining me in this journey to improve your kitchen and culinary knowledge.  My dips and tricks will definitely sway you into a more whole-food, balanced way of approaching food.
